Match Preview
The first of the two semi-finals at the Queen’s Club on Saturday will see Tatjana Maria bid to overcome Madison Keys. Maria has already upset the odds on a number of occasions on the grass in London, including when eliminating former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in straight sets in the previous round. In fact, the German has also beaten other talented opponents in the forms of Karolina Muchova and Leylah Fernandez.
The 37-year-old certainly appears to be back to her very best level of form, and she merits respect as a three-time winner on the WTA Tour. Her record on the grass also should be respected, as the German famously reached the final four at Wimbledon back in 2022.

As the second seed in the competition, Madison Keys has enjoyed a more straightforward route to this stage of the competition. The American has only played twice at the HSBC Championships, but she did appear slightly sluggish in the quarterfinals when needing all three sets to see off Diana Shnaider.
Keys has been in excellent form throughout this calendar, evident after winning the Australian Open at the start of 2025. However, her game doesn’t appear to thrive on the grass, reflected by her record at Wimbledon after failing to make it further than the fourth round in six of the last seven editions.
