Plant (23-2, 14 KOs) needs to have a dominant, swift, and cruel win here to earn another shot at the top of the division. He has three wins and two losses over the past five matches, being stopped by Canelo in the 11th round, and losing to David Benavidez via unanimous decision.
However, the 32-year-old won his last fight vs. Trevor McCumby via KO, and reached a 23-2 record. The plant is not a demolition man, nor does he possess the power to sleep the rival with one punch. However, there aren’t many technically more gifted boxers in the division than him.
Resendiz (15-2, 11 KOs) isn’t a well-known fighter. Though he is young, and at 26 years of age, he has 15 wins and two losses. This is his once-in-a-lifetime chance for the Mexican to sit at the table with the big players.
